Select Board approves permits, preservation easement and asks staff to pursue compliance letters for unpermitted properties

The Town of Jefferson Select Board approved routine permits and took several administrative actions during its Sept. 29 meeting, and it directed staff to pursue compliance on two properties reported as unpermitted.

Selectman Norman Brown moved and Selectman Terri Larcomb seconded motions that passed unanimously to approve a building permit for Jamin Tilton to install solar panels at 469 Valley Road and to approve a driveway permit for Andrew Kenison (Map 15 Lot 44B, Highland Drive). The board also approved a preservation easement application for Aaron and Michelle Gross’s barn and signed a building permit for Waumbek Partners to construct a 40-by-100-foot maintenance building at Map 8 Lot 4C.

Amanda Simino reported a mobile home at 48 Jason Ave. that has been in place since 2021 but has no building permit and has not been taxed as a structure; the board asked staff to request a building permit and to send a letter to the owner. Staff also reported a short-term rental at 1053 Owl's Head Highway operating without a special exception or permit; the board asked staff to draft a compliance letter and to compile a list of STRs approved prior to Town Meeting 2024 for reference.

The board reviewed unpaid bills, deposit and general-ledger records, signed a cemetery deed, approved disbursement of funds, and reviewed an electronic payments policy. No contested votes or dissent were recorded; motions were made and seconded primarily by Selectman Norman Brown and Selectman Terri Larcomb and carried unanimously.
