Jefferson board weighs blinking speed-warning signs for Route 2, asks staff to pursue warrant article

Aaron Gross told the board he has observed high speeds on the stretch from the Waumbek into town and said he found some blinking speed-warning units that start at about $3,500. Selectman Terri Larcomb said she thought the signs would be helpful, and Selectman Norman Brown suggested installing two units — one near Santa's Village and one at the Waumbek. The board asked staff to investigate purchase, installation, and long-term maintenance.
The board noted that creating a specific fund for the signs would require a warrant article at a future Town Meeting. Administrative Assistant Amanda Simino was asked to compile price quotes and installation details to return to the board for further consideration.
No formal motion to purchase the signs was taken at the Sept. 29 meeting; the board limited its action to directing staff to develop cost and implementation options and to prepare materials needed for a warrant article.
