Boone County committee signs MOU for landfill solar, selects bridge consultant and okays $216,530 culvert award

Boone County's committee of the whole for finance on Tuesday approved a memorandum of understanding with the owners of the Landfill No. 2 solar project, advanced a consultant selection for three bridge replacements, and authorized a $216,530 award for a culvert extension.
Chair Bradley Riley moved the items through the meeting; the MOU with the landfill solar project owners was presented by county staff as an agreement in which "Belvedere East will be paying for the firm remediation, and the county will be paying for the damage to the feeder," and staff said "there'll just be 1 check, issued from Belvidere East to Boone County in the amount of '43.03 27'" as recorded in the meeting transcript. The committee approved the MOU and directed staff to move it forward to the county board.
On bridges, highway staff Justin Kron said the county solicited qualifications and recommended Willett Hoffman Associates to perform phases 1 and 2 of consulting engineering for three bridge replacements (Squaw Prairie Road, Marengo Road and Lawrenceville Road). Kron said the work would be "100% paid by RTA grant" and described the grant award in the meeting remarks; the committee approved forwarding the QBS recommendation.
Kron also recommended awarding the Hunter Road crossroad culvert extension contract to Lobitter O'Brien Civil Works for $216,530, noting the project is funded through motor fuel tax money. "We do have motor fuel tax money budgeted to cover this," he said. The committee approved the award and consented to forward it to the county board.
