The Kensington Select Board unanimously approved three budget-related documents on Jan. 26: the MS-636 proposed budget form, the town warrant and the MS-DTB 2026 default budget, the Town Administrator said.
Town Administrator Kathleen T. Felch explained the MS-636 form is the state-required proposed budget filing and that the figures on the form are estimates that could change depending on warrant-article outcomes and subsequent tax-rate setting. After that explanation, Selectboard member Sara Hamilton moved to sign the MS-636; Robert Gustafson seconded and the motion carried "all in favor." The transcript does not record individual roll-call votes.
Hamilton then moved to approve the warrant as presented; Gustafson seconded and the motion again carried unanimously. The board said the warrant articles will be posted and presented at the Deliberative Session scheduled for Feb. 5, 2026, at KES (the transcript uses the abbreviation KES; the full name of the facility is not specified in the record).
Finally, Gustafson moved to sign the 2026 MS-DTB default budget; Hamilton seconded and the motion passed with all in favor. The board recorded no further discussion on the default budget.
Next steps: the board will post the warrant and present articles at the Feb. 5 deliberative session; any changes to the MS-636 estimates will occur after warrant outcomes and the later tax-rate setting process.
