Store General Manager Leigh Ann Lowe presented the worksheet prepared by Mr. Ballard, CPA, saying the business requires $207,000 in working capital. With the normal fourth‑quarter distribution of $90,000, staff recommended an additional distribution of $263,667.09, bringing the total payment to the city this year to $493,000. Cran Plyler moved the distribution and Don Clinard seconded; Neal Grimes abstained from the vote because he is a member of the Thomasville City Council. The motion carried.
The recommendation and vote followed presentation of the board's comparative financial statements and supporting attachments. Board materials show the inventory adjustment line increased substantially due to a programming change by Carolina Data; staff said that issue will be corrected. The board noted increases in checking and money‑market balances and a rise in retirement fund entries. With the distribution included, the board's materials projected net profit reduced to $2,952.69 for the period.
The board also completed routine business. Payrolls for the pay periods ending June 21, July 5 and July 19, 2025, were approved. The June 2025 Law Enforcement Report was received and accepted with no issues. Sales data in board materials showed June retail sales were down 5.48% (a decline of $25,912) while statewide sales were down 4.36%; the seven‑week average from June 1 to July 19 was $114,864 and the 41‑day average was $19,611. Lowe told the board she is seeing a change in product mix among younger customers: "Current young people are not drinking as much now but consuming more 'gummies'," and she noted canned drinks are selling well.
Ms. Lowe reported that Octavious Kennedy resigned because his primary job changed his hours; she said she will begin interviewing for a replacement. The board set its next meeting for Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, and moved the start time to 9:00 a.m. because the Thomasville State of the City and County luncheon begins at noon that day. With no further business, the board adjourned.
