Atlantic Beach officials unanimously adopted Ordinance 24-04-01 on April 22 to amend the town’s Unified Development Ordinance so sidewalk and circulation standards reference the newly adopted sidewalk requirements in Town Code Chapter 16.
Mayor Pro Tem Austin Waters moved to open and close the public hearing and adopt the ordinance; Councilmember Joey Dean seconded and the motion passed 3-0. The Planning Board reviewed the text amendment at its April 2 meeting and recommended approval, and the council adopted the accompanying consistency statement.
The amendment links Article 18-5, Development Standards, Section 18.5.2 (Access and Circulation, Sidewalks) to the sidewalk provisions in Chapter 16 of the Town Code. Council members did not debate substantive changes on the record during the meeting; the council’s action was recorded as approval based on the Planning Board report and the town staff recommendation.
The ordinance was adopted as presented; no public speakers spoke during the hearing. The council’s action takes effect according to the town’s ordinance-adoption rules and the filed ordinance record.
