At its Dec. 1 meeting the Christiansburg Planning Commission approved the planning commission minutes from Oct. 20, 2025, by roll call vote (8–0). The motion to approve was made by a commissioner (speaker 5) and seconded by another commissioner (speaker 6).
Later in the agenda the commission approved a plat dedicating approximately 0.019 acres of tax parcels abutting Underwood Street NW to meet the town code requirement that right‑of‑way be widened to a minimum of 50 feet through coordinated dedication. Staff explained the code requirement (town code section 42‑27 ks) and said the subdivider must dedicate sufficient frontage so that half the missing width would be provided now, with the adjacent property required to provide the other half should it subdivide in the future. The motion to approve the plat was made by the same commissioner who moved the minutes approval and seconded by a commissioner who previously disclosed a business interest; the roll call vote was unanimous 8–0.
No formal action was taken on the conditional use permit for a 28‑unit planned housing development; commissioners asked for additional engineering data, site visits and clarification of sidewalk and emergency‑access questions and will revisit the CUP at their Dec. 15 meeting. Commissioners concluded the meeting with community announcements including the Parade of Homes, the downtown market and the town’s holiday events. The meeting adjourned at 7:59 p.m.
