Select Board allows champagne toasts and limited fire-pit service for Whitney’s Inn with safety conditions

Jackson, N.H. — The Town of Jackson Select Board voted June 24 to allow limited outdoor alcohol service for wedding photography and firepit use at the Inn at Whitney’s Farm, subject to safety conditions and state liquor regulations.
Mark LaHood, owner of WIF Holdings LLC (the Inn at Whitney’s Farm), joined the meeting by Zoom to request permission to serve alcohol outside the licensed area in two specific locations: by the Shovel Handle Pub sign for champagne toasts during photography, and the firepit area in front of the pub for guests sitting around a fire. The board discussed safety and occupancy concerns. Sgt. Mosher raised concerns about photography near the roadside sign and Fire Chief Jay Henry said the firepit area requires an inspection and an occupancy permit because it has not previously had one.
Chair Barbara Campbell said the board would approve the corrections discussed and granted the measure for the remainder of the outdoor event season with the stated conditions. Addendum A records the board’s conditions: champagne toasts are allowed by the sign; WIF Holdings LLC is responsible for patron safety around the sign adjacent to the parking lot; the firepit area may be approved for alcohol only after the Fire Chief inspects it and issues an occupancy load and occupancy permit; and no additional outdoor bars will be constructed. Addendum B notes the Town does not object to the State-issued extended license and that state Liquor Commission policies must be followed.
The board approved the arrangement for the 2025 outdoor-event season and will revisit the permissions in 2026. The Fire Chief and the Inn’s owner will coordinate the required inspection and any occupancy-related requirements with town staff and the state liquor authorities.
