New Chincoteague Chamber director cites rising visitors, invites council collaboration

Joanne Moore, the newly appointed executive director of the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce, introduced herself to the council and said she looks forward to partnering with town leaders to promote local businesses and tourism.
Moore thanked the town’s public works, emergency management, police and the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company for support during the Dec. 7 Christmas parade, and said the chamber’s December statistics were stronger than a year earlier: website visits were up about 8% (approaching 300,000), phone calls were up about 9% and in-office visitors increased about 19%.
Moore said she will present a fuller annual report at the council’s February meeting and invited council members to meet with her individually to discuss chamber priorities and local-business needs.
The mayor congratulated Moore and the council welcomed the chamber’s offer to coordinate on events and visitor services.
