Bogue council reports $696,992.98 in cash funds, issues three zoning permits and announces Bogue Day

The Town Council of Bogue received routine financial and operational updates at its Sept. 15 meeting.

Mayor Robert O'Chat reported that the town's total cash funds are $696,992.98. Town Clerk Barbara Owens told the council that sales tax receipts have been received through July, property tax through August, vehicle tax through July and utilities franchise tax through the second quarter. Clerk Owens also reported that three zoning permits had been issued: new construction at 124 Pine Needle Circle; new construction at 235 Lake Arthur Drive; and an accessory building at 235 Lake Arthur Drive.

On public works, Councilmember Albert Taylor and Councilmember David Padgett had no report, and Mayor Robert O'Chat said Simpson Construction is preparing rock for work on Chimney Branch Road. Councilmember John Dale said the town hall flagpole needs repair or replacement and noted that Carolina Home and Garden updated the town hall landscaping last month. Councilmember Allison Cannon invited residents to Bogue Day on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Procedural items on the agenda were approved unanimously earlier in the meeting: Councilmember Albert Taylor moved to accept the agenda (seconded by Councilmember John Dale) and Councilmember Mike Crose moved to approve the Aug. 18 minutes (seconded by Councilmember Allison Cannon). The council adjourned at 6:22 p.m.; Mayor Robert O'Chat announced the next meeting will be Oct. 20, 2025.
