The Town Council of Bogue voted Sept. 15 to appoint TJ Southard as a regular member of the Planning Board and to name Scott Stoner as an alternate.
Mayor Robert O'Chat distributed paper ballots to councilmembers to fill one regular seat and one alternate seat; after the first tally Mayor O'Chat reported two votes for Scott Stoner and three votes for TJ Southard, making Southard the new regular member. The council conducted three rounds of ballots for the alternate seat; the final round returned three votes for Scott Stoner and two for Ansley Sanderson, and Stoner was selected as the alternate.
Councilmember John Dale moved to confirm the two appointments and Councilmember David Padgett seconded; the council voted unanimously to approve both confirmations. Mayor Robert O'Chat later stated that Southard's term will run for the remainder of Mike Panzarella's term (through April 2027) and that Stoner's appointment runs through September 2028.
The appointments fill vacancies on the town's Planning Board; council members did not raise additional debate or propose amendments during the confirmations. There were no public comments at the meeting: Clerk Barbara Owens said a registered commenter, Richard Chapman, was not present. The council did not schedule further action on these appointments at the meeting.
