The Truth or Consequences City Commission voted to move its second monthly meeting from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.
At a regular meeting, a commissioner argued that the trial of 4:00 p.m. sessions had not increased public comment and proposed both monthly meetings begin at 9:00 a.m. The chair acknowledged trade-offs for staff and out-of-town attendees but said the change could streamline operations.
The commission then voted to adopt the annual open meetings resolution with the schedule change. A motion to approve the open meetings resolution with the amended time was seconded and carried.
Commissioners and staff said they hope the earlier start will avoid late-night staff hours while maintaining opportunities for public comment. The change takes effect per the resolution as recorded at the meeting.
The commission proceeded to subsequent agenda items, including two abatement resolutions for dangerous structures.
