Staff reports progress on Chesterton park bond projects; board accepts $300 donation and member announces departure

Tyler, parks staff, updated the Chesterton Parks and Recreation Board on multiple bond-funded and maintenance projects, reporting that work at the West Ballfields at Dogwood is nearly complete and that "the contractor was out there to spread the material. They left a couple of low spots. They're gonna be back out next week to fix those," and that resurfacing of the basketball and tennis courts at Waskom Parks is finished. He said the town has requested electric service from NIPSCO at Coffee Creek Park to power site lighting and a fountain aerator and that staff is starting pathway repairs at Thomas Centennial Park to address tripping hazards. Tyler also said HVAC upgrades to the Centennial Park boxcar restrooms are underway and staff is beginning the process to replace aging playground equipment at Tamarack Park. He noted the Coffee Creek Park boardwalk design RFP (a Lake Michigan coastal grant project) is in preparation and that DLC completed topographic survey work at Dogwood East and is working on the Prairie Doolin Trailhead off Jackson Boulevard.
