Director Luke Scholten presented the Early Childhood Center spotlight, reporting that use of a speech and language pathologist is improving phonemic awareness among kindergarten students. He described implementation of Least Restrictive Environment principles in programming at the center and highlighted the Buddy Up program, in which high-school students work with preschool students.
The board received the update as an information item; no formal action was taken on the Early Childhood Center presentation at the March 25 meeting. Student representatives later raised facilities concerns about Pathways High School — including lack of windows and bathrooms needing updates — and noted concerns about weighting for some Middle College courses. Pathways commencement was noted as May 28; Kenowa Hills High School commencement is May 29.
Member Hart offered to draft criteria for Board recognition of students, and requested follow-up reports on security cameras and account transparency during the go-around portion of the agenda. The meeting adjourned at 7:58 p.m.
