Fredonia reports election results, development activity and improved emergency response times

Clerk Johnson told the board that the April 7 spring nonpartisan election ran smoothly, reporting 1,471 voters (about 41% turnout). He summarized trustee vote totals for the village trustee race (Anne Redmond 364; Richard Redmond 352; Rudy McCormick 234; Jessica Frank 323) and the special-election totals (Eric Stowe 290; Bruce Cappy 214). Clerk Johnson said reconciliation went well and that onboarding of new trustees will proceed ahead of the organizational meeting.
Village Administrator Jenkins reported several economic development items: use of the Fidelity 1st program to help recruit a new household to North Milwaukee Street; multiple industrial-park projects advancing (Pulsa Mechanical received state approvals; 9 Ladies Dancing has broken ground; Laura Logan is advancing storage-unit plans; Diamond Wipes is purchasing 617 Tower Drive; Solver is taking a large building; Greasile is coming to Tower Drive). Jenkins said the village applied for a congressional spending grant to purchase a fire truck and quoted the requested amount as "It's like $1.31400000 dollars," stressing the grant would significantly help that purchase if funded.
Chief Weicker reviewed public-safety metrics for March and year-to-date. He reported seven fire incidents, 16 rescue incidents and 25 ambulance calls in March, and said the department has reached full staffing for the month. With newly added staff the chief said response times have improved substantially, from approximately 12–13 minutes down to about eight to nine minutes on average. He said the department has 31 active roster members and will add a 'time of page' metric to better track performance.
Treasurer Upsam reported on implementation of a new accounts-receivable module and follow-up work on dog licensing outreach; auditors' reports were received and the treasurer is reviewing PSC and state reporting requirements and year-end adjusted entries.
Clerk Johnson also noted administrative items: open book on April 28 and the Board of Review on May 19 at 5 p.m., alcohol licensing renewal packets sent to businesses, and a planned website update going live around the organizational meeting on May 7.
