Village swears in Jacob Barter as part‑time firefighter/paramedic

Administrator Jenkins and village staff introduced Barter, noting he is employed full time with Ozaukee Central and has been there since December 2023. Administrator Jenkins said Barter is "state of Wisconsin certified firefighter" and a "state of Wisconsin licensed paramedic" and that Barter will work under the village's medical control with Aurora, making the position "a easy plug and play for us." Officials said Barter will need training on one piece of equipment — the village's defibrillator, which is a different brand than he has used — before he assumes all operational duties. The board and chief said the hire improves the village's emergency coverage; no formal vote was required for the swearing in.
The board moved on to the evening's remaining agenda items after congratulating Barter.
