Brown County Community Corrections faces roughly $12,000 grant cut; revised budget due July 27

To accommodate the reduction, the Director said she trimmed a contract line to Centerstone from $7,000 to $5,000. She described the Centerstone line as funding services for clients who lack insurance or alternative funding so clients can access treatment or life-skills support free of charge. "That has become an asset and a benefit to the clients over the years," the Director said of the contract-funded services.
The board reviewed monthly financial statements for March through June; the Director provided line-item totals and ending balances (March grant fund $43,301.28; April $36,866; May $19,642.07; June $10,424.31) and project-income balances for the same months. A motion to approve the presented financial statements was made, seconded and carried during the meeting (vote details not specified in the transcript).
The Director said most grant funds are allocated to personnel (salary and fringe) and to supervision-testing or monitoring fees; staffing and salary projections remain under review. The board scheduled its next meeting for Nov. 12, when it will set meeting dates for 2027.
