Alma council approves dump truck purchase and several change orders for Lift Station #4

Utilities Chair Larry Grisen reported that the 2002 GMC dump truck used primarily for snow removal failed DOT inspection and the council approved up to $50,000 to purchase a replacement. Foreman Joe Wick told the council that a new truck is needed promptly to haul snow.
The council approved multiple change orders related to the Lift Station #4 construction: Change Order #3 for $4,370.00 to cover additional detour signage required by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation; Change Order #4 for $3,622.50 for location finds caused by incorrect city record drawings for underground pipes; Change Order #5 for $6,514.76 to repair an 18-inch-diameter storm drain that crossed over the 10-inch sanitary sewer pipe; and Change Order #6 for $2,907.31 for replacement of sanitary manhole MH4. The council also approved purchase of a Cummins/Onan generator for Lift Station #4 for $38,758.27 to be paid with Clean Water Fund monies.
Each measure was approved by roll call vote with all members voting yes. The council chair noted the importance of setting aside funds annually for future vehicle and equipment needs to avoid urgent replacements.
What happens next: procurement steps for the dump truck and generator and contract administration for the Lift Station change orders will follow according to department procedures.
