GOSHEN, N.Y. — The town board approved two event permits on July 9, waiving the 60-day filing requirement in both cases and making one approval contingent on an acceptable insurance certificate.
The board waived the 60-day filing requirement and approved a permit for Brown Barn Farms LLC for a fundraiser scheduled for July 25, 2026 after town counsel confirmed the application otherwise met procedural requirements and insurance was in order.
The board then considered an application from New Breed Boxing USA for a USA Boxing qualifying tournament. Counsel recommended the board approve the application contingent on receipt of an acceptable certificate of insurance and to waive the 60-day notice. The event organizer described security arrangements, parking plans that include using adjacent lots and staff to direct traffic, ringside medical coverage and a plan to prevent on-road parking along Route 17. "We have provisions for additional parking from the veterinary hospital and a closed business that's adjoining," the organizer said, adding that two active law-enforcement officers and trained security staff would be on site.
Board members conditioned approval on insurance and confirmed that alcohol, if later requested, would require separate approval from the state liquor authority and that the town would have to provide a supporting letter if needed. The board approved the contingent application and the waiver by voice vote.
Other routine business: the board accepted the resignation of officer William Guy and approved check payments totaling $115,035.31.
Next steps: New Breed Boxing must supply a certificate of insurance acceptable to town staff before the permit is final; the board will monitor compliance with parking and safety conditions at the events.
