GOSHEN, N.Y. — The town board voted to continue the public hearing on the Salz parking-lot special-permit application to Aug. 13 after hearing a detailed endorsement from a member of the Environmental Review Board.
A resident speaking as an ERB member told the board the updated plan is similar to the original but does not raise the parking surface; instead, it proposes installing permeable grid pavers over the existing grass. "The ERB is especially pleased to see that the application shows no activity within the 150 foot buffer of the stream corridor overlay," the ERB member said, and noted the ERB "really likes this new plan." The speaker also urged the town to consider a variance if the lead agency accepts the applicant’s proposed ADA alternative for accessible parking.
Supervisor Chris Healy asked for a motion to extend the public hearing and the board voted to continue the hearing to Aug. 13. Counsel clarified that comments made prior to the hearing's reopening are not technically part of the public-hearing record unless resubmitted at the continued hearing, and the board said it would clarify the process publicly so residents understand how to make formal comments for the record.
Next steps: the public hearing will continue on Aug. 13; residents who wish to ensure comments are in the hearing record should re-submit or speak at the continued hearing.
