Council honors Pearl City High School air rifle team for national finish

Council Member Okimoto recognized the Pearl City High School Lady Charger air rifle team during the council's honorary certificate program, citing their competitive results this season and presenting a certificate on behalf of the City and County of Honolulu.

Okimoto, who introduced members and coaches, said the team captured its fourth consecutive OIA girls air rifle championship and finished second at the HHSAA state championship before placing third overall out of 45 teams at the national three-position competition in Port Clinton, Ohio. "The Pearl City Chargers captured their 4th consecutive OIA Girls Air Rifle Championship," Okimoto said, and noted an aggregate team score of 4,306 at the national tournament.

Okimoto singled out senior team captain Jenna Liang and Chloe (surname not specified in remarks) for outstanding performances over multiple seasons; she also noted individual national placements for team members (15th, 25th, 33rd and 84th out of 151 individuals as recited during remarks). The council honored coaches Lester and Leland (coaches named in remarks) and congratulated the students on their academic and competitive accomplishments.
