Appling County manager resigns; commissioners appoint Road Projects manager Hayden Rozier as interim

County Attorney Tracy Brown announced at the Feb. 1 meeting that Julie Scarborough resigned that evening as interim county manager, and commissioners voted unanimously to accept her resignation and appoint Road Projects Manager Hayden Rozier as interim county manager until a permanent hire is made.
Brown told the board that the resignation created a vacancy in the county clerk's office as well; she recommended that Wm. Terry Turner serve on an interim basis until an offer can be made to Chelsea Carter and Carter can transition into the role. Commissioner Charlie Leggett moved to approve the recommendation; Commissioner Daryl Edwards seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The motions were made during the regular meeting that followed an emergency session earlier in the afternoon; both appointments were approved by unanimous vote of the full board (Commissioners Sarah Boatright, Theodore Wilkerson, Doug Harris, Daryl Edwards, Charlie Leggett and Chairman Mike Shumans).
The appointments are temporary: commissioners said the manager position will remain open until the board completes a hiring process for a permanent county manager. The minutes attached to the meeting record the motions and the board's unanimous approvals.
