Applicant Tim Barta granted shed permit contingent on utility approval

The Fredonia Planning Commission on April 13 approved a shed permit for applicant Tim Barta, subject to confirmation from We Energies that underground utilities will not conflict with the proposed location.

Tim Barta described the proposal as a corner-lot placement intended to minimize retaining-wall construction by siting the shed as far forward as allowed. He said the pad will be concrete, 17 by 13 feet, leaving roughly 6 inches of clearance around the shed, and that he plans to paint the shed to match the house. "The concrete pad that shed will go on will actually be 17 by 13, giving me 6 inches all the way around extra," Barta said.

Commissioners noted the town's maximum shed dimensions (a 12-by-16-foot maximum area/196 square feet and a 15-foot height limit) and asked about drainage. Barta said the yard pitches toward a utility corner and that he will install piping under the pad to manage flow. Chair Lehi told the commission any approval should be contingent on We Energies confirming there are no underground wires under the proposed footprint; the commission approved the permit with that contingency.
