Council approves $19,004.81 change order for West Street water-main project

Public Works told the council the consulting engineer (Thrasher) reviewed and confirmed the work is an allowable contingency expense and that the change will not increase the original loan amount for the project. The change order also includes installation of additional service-line work associated with the alignment.
Councilors asked clarifying questions about how the change order would be funded; staff confirmed the amendment is charged to contingency funds rather than increasing the loan or the contract base amount. A motion to approve the change order was made and the council moved forward with the approval procedure.
Staff said Eric Sherrard, the project lead for the engineering consultant, was available by phone if councilors required technical follow-up. The council did not request further review and directed staff to finalize the change order paperwork.
