Georgetown council interviews two candidates for vacant seat, votes to enter executive session on appointment

The Village of Georgetown council conducted interviews with two candidates for a vacant council seat and then voted to enter executive session to consider an appointment.
Steve Swanson, who said he has lived in the village about eight years, described his work as a school-district transportation supervisor with management and budgeting experience and said he would bring that operational background to the council. "I've lived here in the village about 8 years now with my family," Swanson said, adding that he has experience managing roughly 20 employees at peak and handling vehicle and equipment decisions.
Cody Hicks described a service-centered career in health care, the military and education and said he comes without a personal agenda, aiming to be of service to the council and community. "What's important to me: God, family, and country," Hicks said, and he suggested community ideas such as a vetted busking permit to create public performance opportunities in the village square.
After questioning both applicants, Council member Pringle moved to enter executive session "pursuant to Ohio revised code section 121.22(G)(1) to consider the appointment of a public employee or official." The motion was seconded by Council member Jones and passed on roll call; the council then recessed to an adjacent room for the executive session. No appointment was announced at the meeting's public close.
