The Village of Georgetown council opened its annual tax-budget hearing during the regular meeting. Greg explained that the tax budget is a required filing that notifies the county auditor of the village's intent to continue collecting taxes at current rates and that it is not a financial operating budget.
Greg told the council the presentation reflected year-to-date numbers through roughly the first half of the year and staff estimates for the remainder of the year. He said the tax budget will allow the village to obtain a first certificate later in the year and that a temporary financial budget will be prepared in the months ahead.
Chair closed the hearing after asking for public input; none was offered. The council moved on to other agenda items.
