Planning staff says UDO amendments, mayor’s housing commission input expected; public hearing targeted by September

City planning staff gave the committee a status report on proposed changes to the Unified Development Ordinance and related planning work at the July 8 Land Use Committee meeting.
Sergei Gutricken said staff and planning staff have been meeting internally to outline proposed UDO changes, including possible adjustments to overlay districts, development standards and accessory dwelling unit rules. He told the committee staff wants to hear from the mayor's housing commission before finalizing proposals.
Gutricken said the goal is to schedule a public hearing before the Planning Commission by September to gather public input and ensure the city's changes align with state requirements. "We would want to have a public hearing scheduled ... not later than September," he said, adding staff hopes to present recommendations to council after commission review.
No substantive proposals were presented at the July 8 meeting; staff said additional discussions with departments and stakeholders are ongoing and that they will return with more detailed recommendations and timelines.
