Park Ridge council introduces three capital ordinances, approves consent agenda with one abstention

The mayor moved to introduce Ordinance 2026-009, amending Ordinance 2025-006 to appropriate $25,000 from capital fund balance for the removal and replacement of an underground fuel storage tank at the Department of Public Works; the motion passed on a roll call. The clerk read the ordinance title and the council voted to publish the full ordinance with a public hearing date set for 04/14/2026.
Council then introduced Ordinance 2026-010, a capital ordinance appropriating $190,000 from the reserve for sewer improvements to fund Sybil Drive culvert improvements; the motion carried on first reading with publication and a public hearing scheduled for 04/14/2026.
The council also introduced Ordinance 2026-011 to amend Chapter 76 of the borough code to add section 76-1d (the James Lot) to prohibit overnight parking in the 20 borough-owned James Lot spaces. When asked to briefly describe that proposal, the councilor who spoke said simply, “This prohibits overnight parking in the James Lot in the 20 spots that are owned by the borough.” The ordinance was passed on first reading and set for publication with a public hearing on 04/14/2026.
On the consent agenda, one councilor announced an abstention from a payment related to a joint agreement with Paramus for the fire department; the remainder of the consent agenda was approved by roll call. The council also approved minutes for closed public‑session meetings dated March 10, 2026, with one abstention recorded.
