At the June 9 meeting, the Bismarck Public School Board received an update on the CT Center construction and the district's plan to close a remaining funding gap.
Mr. Sherr, delivering the major‑projects briefing, said sheetrock work and concrete finish work are underway and that exterior wall panels are being installed on the north portion of the facility. He told trustees the district has the opportunity to secure a "major sponsor" and said the district would begin a summer fundraising campaign and follow up with phone calls and outreach to close the remaining gap.
"So if we're able to secure that funding, we'll be bringing that to for the board's consideration to do those as part of phase 1," Mr. Sherr said, referring specifically to adding structural-steel mezzanines that would tie into phase‑1 construction if funding is obtained.
Superintendent Dr. Fosnott emphasized the value of showing partners the facility in person as part of fundraising: "Having a structure somewhere you can take people, see the space, show these organizations, businesses, partners in our community — this is what you're buying into." The district plans to launch outreach and a campaign this summer and to return to the board for any approvals needed if a sponsor commitment materializes.
The update included no new budget numbers or binding financial commitments; staff described the work in progress and the proposed fundraising strategy as next steps. The board took no formal action on the project at this meeting.
