Members of the Facilities Committee, represented by Selectmen Laura Malloy and Heather Droesch, updated the Board June 15 on proposed town facilities work that would start with renovating the existing Town Hall, include expanding the Fire Department (with space for a community center and courtyard as options), and ultimately build a new fire station.
The committee has developed a general site plan and floor plans and identified the next step as issuing a request for proposals for a civil-engineer site analysis to confirm the proposed program fits the available parcel. Funding for the analysis is available in the town’s designated facilities fund; the committee also plans to apply for grants to offset larger project costs.
Malloy and Droesch said the committee will hold multiple meetings with residents to review design features and costs. No final financing plan or formal vote on construction has been taken; the update was informational and the board did not authorize construction at this meeting.
