Surf City approves Cape Fear Community College site plan for new addition

The Surf City Town Council voted to approve a site plan for Cape Fear Community College that will add roughly 12,000 square feet of academic space and associated parking on NC Highway 210 East.
Sean Olds of the planning department said the college’s revised master plan now calls for a 12,000‑square‑foot addition connected to the existing building by a covered walkway, with room for future expansion left undisturbed. The submission shows 151 parking spaces including six ADA spaces, state stormwater permit approval and town water and sewer service for the site.
Greg Fritz, general contractor with WM Jordan, told council there will be three new building entrances and a new rear parking area that meet the town’s parking and access requirements; there will be no new access directly onto Highway 210. Staff recommended approval, and the council approved the site plan on a motion.
Officials said the project aligns with the town's earlier master‑planning work and fills a local need for more trade and classroom offerings, and staff will coordinate permitting and utility connections following the site's approval.
