Carrizozo trustees approve agenda, set next budget workshop for April 21

CARRIZOZO, N.M. — The Town of Carrizozo Board of Trustees approved the meeting agenda and arranged a follow-up session to continue preliminary work on the fiscal 2026–27 budget during a budget workshop Tuesday evening at Town Hall.
Mayor Robert E. Hemphill led the meeting’s opening activities, including the Pledge of Allegiance and a welcome to guests. Leann Weihbrecht, CMC, recorded the meeting and listed those present as Mayor Hemphill and Trustees Jesse Samora, Simon Beltran, Sissy Griego and Mital Bhakta.
Trustee Jesse Samora moved to approve the agenda “as written,” and Trustee Simon Beltran seconded. The trustees recorded a roll-call vote with Trustee Samora, Trustee Beltran, Trustee Griego and Trustee Bhakta voting aye; the motion carried.
The board briefly reviewed items planned for the town’s preliminary fiscal 2026–27 budget and agreed to continue the conversation at a subsequent budget workshop scheduled for April 21, 2026. No formal budget decisions or dollar amounts were adopted at the session.
Trustee Jesse Samora moved to adjourn the meeting; Trustee Mital Bhakta seconded. The meeting adjourned at 7:05 PM "upon unanimous vote," according to the meeting minutes. The minutes were attested by Mayor Robert E. Hemphill and Leann Weihbrecht, CMC.
The board’s next publicly noticed workshop on the preliminary budget is set for April 21, 2026.
