The Thomasville ABC Board on May 20 unanimously approved a $30,000 year-end bonus for store staff, authorizing $7,700 for Store General Manager Leigh Ann Lowe and directing her to distribute the remainder at her discretion. The motion to authorize the bonus was made by Neal Grimes, secretary/treasurer, seconded by board member Don Clinard and passed unanimously.
Board members also reviewed and approved payrolls for the weeks ending April 26 and May 10, 2025, and accepted the Thomasville Police Department's Alcohol Beverage Commission report for April 2025. Financial statements presented to the board showed increased cash and money-market funds; Lowe said no budget amendments were necessary at this time though some year-end amendments are expected next month.
Lowe reported that April store sales were down 2.91% from April 2024 while statewide sales rose 1.28%. She said the store averaged $113,324 in sales per week and $15,942 per day for the period covered. Lowe also told the board that younger customers are trending toward gummy products rather than traditional alcohol.
The board adjourned following routine business and scheduled a public hearing and the regular June meeting for June 17. The bonus authorization was recorded in the meeting minutes as a formal board action.
