Home-based dry-goods shop at 24 Center Road will not trigger Hillsborough sewer fees, commissioners say

At the Feb. 24 meeting the Town of Hillsborough Water & Sewer Commission reviewed a Change of Use application from Alex Mellen for a dry goods retail space at 24 Center Road.
Mellen said the shop will operate mostly by appointment and that no bathroom facilities are installed in the space; patrons will not use the home’s bathrooms. After review, Commissioners Dave Lewis and Dana Clow determined the proposed business would have no impact on the town’s water or sewer systems. The commission concluded that no System Development Charge (SDC) is due and that no additional sewer unit will be added to the property’s quarterly sewer bill.
Mellen left the meeting at 7:00 p.m. The commission recorded the determination in the meeting minutes and will include the item in the administrative record for the property.
