Commissioners flag steep rise in cost to replace sewer grinder cutters; vendor follow-up ordered

Administrator Penny Griffin noted that when the grinder was installed in 2021 the estimated cutter exchange cost was about $14,000; the current vendor quote is $24,532.34. Commissioners discussed that a contractor will be required to install the replacements and asked Griffin to contact the vendor to clarify whether the quoted cutters are new or refurbished and whether the vendor will issue credit for the cutters that are removed.
The commission did not approve purchase or installation at this meeting and agreed to continue discussions on the matter at a future meeting once vendor clarifications and contractor needs are known.
