Council gives first reading to 2025 budget; approves propane bid and awaits Otter Tail payment

At the Aug. 5 meeting the Bottineau City Council moved the proposed 2025 budget forward on first reading. Council Member Mortensen moved to approve the budget on first reading; Stewart seconded and the motion carried. Marsden asked members to review the document before the final reading in September.
The Finance Committee recommended purchasing Lot 24 in the Preserve to address drainage problems and then selling remaining portions of the lot. Committee members asked councilors to study the proposal before the next meeting.
In procurement matters, Marsden moved to accept the lone propane bid from Cenex at $1.36 per gallon; Getzlaff seconded and the motion carried. The minutes record that final paperwork has been signed with Otter Tail Power for a separate land sale and the city is awaiting payment from the company.
Stewart reported the public pool has exhausted its 2024 budget largely due to higher wages and will request additional funding to be drawn from Pool Reserve Fund #7100; the council did not act on that request at the Aug. 5 meeting.
No roll-call tallies were recorded for the budget, propane or variance motions in the minutes except for a separate bills approval vote (recorded as all yes). Council took the items under advisement where specified and set follow-up items for September.
