The board considered bids for perimeter fencing around the pool, water‑tower area and baseball/softball fields and voted to award the contract. A staff member summarized two bids: one at roughly $84,750 with optional mesh add‑ons of about $25,600, and a second bid at $85,590. A board motion to select Ludwell at an agreed price of $84,007.50 carried on a voice vote.
Board members debated whether mesh screening should count as a security expense under the grant and suggested alternatives for remaining funds (improved entry doors, cameras and other security improvements). Staff said the district will seek an extension from the grantor if more time is needed to obligate funds and will return cost estimates to the board in August.
The motion awarding the contract was made and seconded and the board recorded the ayes. Staff will proceed with contracting and advise the board about any required grant amendments or extension requests.
