Glynn County Schools says Goodyear, Glendale replacement and Sterling reroof projects are on schedule

Mr. Haywood, the district facilities presenter, gave a multi-site update on ongoing capital projects, saying the major projects — the Goodyear renovation, the Glendale Elementary replacement, and the Sterling Elementary reroof — are on schedule and progressing well.
On Goodyear, he described changes to the front entrance to improve security and sight lines to the secretary's station, painted classrooms, new flooring and tile work, and plans to pour concrete islands by the parent pickup area to improve aesthetics and visibility. "You know that it's drastically changed from how it used to be, and it's gonna be a lot better than what it was," Haywood said.
For the Glendale replacement, Haywood walked the board through plans showing the cafeteria, administration wing, grade-level wings, daycare classrooms and multiple playgrounds; he said the contractor (Tyson Construction) reported everything currently on schedule and that the layout allows flexible instructional and daycare uses.
On Sterling, he reported that underlayment and roof purlins are installed, roof panels will be laid next, and "they should finish up July 29 with all of the heavy lifting part of that" while final completion is expected in September. Board members asked technical questions about wind loads and entry points for daycare; Haywood said the roofs are engineered for the coastal storm environment.
Haywood also reported recent collections numbers as part of his operations summary, noting the district collected $3,537,263.41 in the latest period and has collected just over $45,800,000 year to date.
The board did not take formal votes on the facilities updates; staff said they will continue monitoring schedules and report back if timelines change.
