Beaver Dam board discusses new plow truck, road bids and Ollinger Road speed limit

The Town of Beaver Dam board on April 8 discussed whether to acquire a second plow truck, but deferred a purchase decision pending the outcome of road work bids and additional cost estimates.
Board member Dave Raue said a replacement or additional truck would be available in 2028 and that Raue would obtain price quotes from International and Burke Truck in the next weeks; the board agreed to delay a final decision until after the town accepts road bids. The board scheduled a road-bid meeting for April 24, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. to consider those bids.
Separately, Road Maintenance Department lead Les Oestreich reported planned ditching work for Andrea Court, Tradewinds Circle and Rose Court, and said spray patching is planned for Ollinger Road this year. Oestreich also noted several dead trees on National Street that need removal.
The board discussed a discrepancy in posted limits on Ollinger Road: the city side by a new subdivision is posted 30 mph while the town side remains 45 mph. Chairman Joe Kern said the town attorney will investigate whether the town can change the speed limit to match the city's, in coordination with the Department of Transportation.
No formal motion to purchase equipment or to change speed limits was recorded in the minutes; the truck purchase decision was explicitly deferred pending bids and cost quotes.
