Andy Johnson, the city’s chief financial officer, presented the April financial statement and said sales-tax collections for the first three months of 2026 showed a 2.56% increase compared with last year while use tax was down about 8% from fiscal 2025. He said April included two payroll cycles and that year-to-date performance remained consistent with budget expectations.
Council members asked whether inflation-driven expense increases were visible in recent months; Johnson said there was some effect but nothing "crazy" in the numbers. On capital spending, staff and council discussed the airport infrastructure work; Johnson said the airport project is the main project for the year and the city has encumbered the whole project.
Council moved, seconded and approved the financial statement by voice vote.
