Council reviewed Bill 17-84, an ordinance to amend Chapter 22 of the city code by repealing and replacing Article A to regulate marijuana facilities consistent with the Missouri constitutional amendment and related state statute.
Councilman Cowherd introduced the ordinance and moved that it proceed to second reading at the next council meeting; the motion received a second and council voted with five ayes and one nay to move the bill forward. Staff clarified that the city already addresses medical marijuana and that the new language was drafted by Councilor Tom Riley to address recreational-marijuana regulation and to conform with state law.
Council did not adopt the ordinance at this meeting; it was scheduled for second reading at the next meeting for further consideration and formal action.
