Council appoints Vicky Zumwalt to Economic Development Advisory Commission

The city clerk read the list of applicants and said residency and voter-registration checks had been completed. Zumwalt, who joined the meeting by Zoom, introduced herself and said she was enthusiastic about the role and willing to answer any questions. Several other applicants also spoke briefly about their backgrounds during the open portion of the meeting.
Mayor Watkins moved the appointment after returning from executive session; the motion carried by voice vote. The council noted that additional commission vacancies will open in January and encouraged residents to reapply and monitor the city website for application windows.
The appointment followed the process described by staff, including the legal authority for executive review under Arizona Revised Statutes cited by staff during the meeting. No amendments to the appointment were made.
