Residents say stop‑sign camera is poorly placed, council schedules program update

During public comment at the May 4 meeting, two residents raised concerns about the town’s automated stop‑sign enforcement at the Livingston Road/Comanche Drive location.

A nonresident speaker said the camera is "in the wrong position" and described receiving two tickets in a week; she said late notice of tickets and repeated $40 fines could hit low‑income families hard. "That's $400 of some people's budget," the speaker said, asking the council to reconsider the camera location so drivers do not have to make what she described as two normal stops to avoid citation.

Carolyn Bracey of Comanche Drive said the camera site has limited sight lines because of landscaping and that residents receive two citations frequently. "There's a great big bush on the left. You cannot see around that bush," Bracey said, adding that the citation portal requires a PIN on the notice to see the video and that people are unaware of that process.

Council members and staff told commenters the vendor and program team will present data at the May 20 budget hearing and that residents can review citation video at police headquarters using the ticket PIN if they prefer not to pay first. Council also emphasized staff availability to walk residents through the review process.
