County approves seasonal appraiser assistant, renames pretrial role and OKs HR contract

Shauna Constant, director of equalization, asked the board to create a temporary, seasonal appraiser assistant position to help complete this summer’s reappraisal work and property measurements. "It would be just a seasonal part time, no benefited position…starting wage would be $18.68 an hour," Constant said. Commissioners approved creating, advertising and hiring for the seasonal assistant.
Natalie in human resources presented revisions to a previously approved job description, changing the title from pretrial case manager to "defense support coordinator," clarifying the role is hourly and focuses on administrative coordination to assist court‑appointed attorneys. Commissioners approved the revised job description.
The commission also approved a corrected wage scale to add the appraiser assistant and the defense support coordinator to the appropriate pay grades. Commissioners moved and seconded each action and carried them by voice vote.
Finally, the board approved a one‑year contract for continuing human resources services, effective July 1, 2026, through July 1, 2027, at a contractor flat fee of $5,665 per month to provide HR services and labor‑contract negotiation support.
Next steps: HR and the director of equalization will proceed with advertising and hiring the seasonal appraiser assistant, implement the updated wage scale entries, and execute the HR contract.
