Planning staff: 8815 Madge townhomes on Planning & Zoning agenda; Ladue Quarry project monitored

Whitney, Planning and Development staff, reported May activity: 55 new code‑enforcement cases, 136 inspections, 210 new building permits and 978 inspections overall. She said the Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to continue review of a townhome development at 8815 Madge; if the commission makes a recommendation that night, Whitney said the item would be placed on the Board of Aldermen agenda on July 20.
Whitney briefed the committee on the Ladue Quarry project presentation to the Zoning and Planning Commission and said staff have requested invitations to any future meetings. She described the proposed project components discussed by the Ladue commission: single‑family home clusters, a mixed‑use building with up to 235 apartments and roughly 9,000 square feet of commercial space, and single‑family parcels near Old Wharton Road and Deer Creek.
Whitney also reported routine administrative items: business license renewal counts, contractor registration status, ARB reviews scheduled for properties including 2002 South Brentwood Boulevard and 70 York Drive, and a nuisance-abatement RFP issued May 21 with responses due June 15.
Committee members asked about how staff monitors businesses for license compliance; Whitney said inspectors make site visits, and staff follows up with zoning-violation letters when needed.
