Manager asks council to consider no-parking and signage changes on West Madison Avenue

"We're requesting in the council meeting to authorize the no parking sign of the West Madison Avenue from approximately a 180 feet from South Springfield Road and increase the direction signage... to 30 feet from South Springfield Road," the manager said. He said staff will contact PennDOT to determine whether the borough or PennDOT controls the turning restrictions and center-line markings; he also said the borough's traffic engineer can recheck signal timing.
Council members described persistent complaints about short signal timing at nearby intersections and the use of Madison as a cut-through when nearby streets are closed for construction. The manager recommended hiring a traffic planner in the fall to study the corridor comprehensively.
No formal motion or vote was recorded; the manager said the item would be brought forward for council authorization.
