School committee advances FY26 budget calendar, plans November school-council input

"We looked at and talked with the principals at a recent meeting to use the school improvement councils," Perron said, noting principals were generally supportive of the concept.
Committee members discussed practicalities for gathering feedback: rather than a single all-district forum, principals and staff recommended staggered meetings across the five school councils in November so parents who helped run councils would not need to reschedule. "The scheduling piece is real," one committee member said, and committee members agreed that staff should return with firm dates to place on the calendar and seek approval at the next meeting.
The committee also discussed the capital-budget timeline and the need to convert some TBD placeholders into fixed dates. Perron said he will coordinate with the town to confirm the dates and that the budget subcommittee will meet again to refine priorities.
Committee members offered to help gather input when they are available and suggested the budget subcommittee prepare a list of questions so members can represent the subcommittee at school-council sessions if needed. The committee did not vote on the calendar at this meeting; members directed staff to post a final draft with concrete November dates for community review and to place the calendar on the agenda for the next meeting.
