Thomasville ABC Board adopts 2025–26 budget, approves by-law ballot to extend member terms

The Thomasville ABC Board unanimously adopted its 2025–26 budget at a meeting on June 17 at the board’s store at 1144 Randolph Street.
Chairman Cran Plyler and board members approved routine payrolls for the weeks ending May 24 and June 7, 2025, and reviewed fiscal year-end bonuses. The board also accepted the May law enforcement report, which recorded no irregularities.
The board approved and signed a ballot to amend the State ABC by-laws to change member terms from two consecutive terms to three consecutive terms; Chairman Cran Plyler signed the ballot for return to the State ABC Board. The motion to approve the ballot was moved by Neal Grimes and seconded by Don Clinard; the action was unanimous.
Board members reported that May retail sales at the store were down 0.53 percent while statewide ABC sales rose 0.96 percent. The board said weekly sales averaged $115,984 and daily sales averaged $15,932 during the reported period. Members noted the upcoming opening of Average Joe's Tavern, Bar and Grill, which the board expects to enhance mixed-beverage sales in the area.
Leigh Ann Lowe, the store general manager, presented minor end-of-year budget adjustments necessary to align actual figures with budgeted amounts and comply with state regulations. The board approved those amendments unanimously. Lowe also reported that monthly cycle-count inventories remain low, indicating accurate inventory control, and that a full year-end inventory is scheduled for Sunday, June 29, 2025, to be conducted by Lowe, Finance Officer Angie Shook and CPA Tommy Ballard.
With no comments arising from the public hearing, the board passed the proposed budget (motion by Don Clinard; second by Neal Grimes) and adjourned. The board set its next meeting for July 22, 2025, when CPA Tommy Ballard will present preliminary year-end results and the board will finalize its recommendations for municipal distributions.
