Selectman proposes $1 million warrant article for sewer engineering; Park & Whittemore funding timing questioned

At its July 23 meeting the Hillsborough Board of Selectmen discussed a proposed warrant article to fund a comprehensive engineering study of the town’s sewer system and reviewed scheduling questions for the Park & Whittemore Project.
Selectman Richard Pelletier proposed placing a $1,000,000 warrant article before voters to cover a complete engineering study of sewer infrastructure, with half the cost paid by the town and half by the Water & Sewer Department. Pelletier said the town would then pursue state financial assistance with the town contributing 25% and the Water & Sewer Department contributing 25% as local shares if assistance is available.
Ms. Buono said she received an email from the State indicating that the funding for the Park & Whittemore Project is slated for 2027, and she expressed uncertainty how that timing aligns with the town’s 2025–2026 project schedule. She said a meeting with the Water & Sewer Commission will be scheduled in October to coordinate next steps.
Ms. Buono also reminded the board that there will be a pre-construction meeting for the Park & Whittemore Project on July 31 and a public meeting on Aug. 5.
