Hillsborough Conservation Commission authorizes $545 for 500 trail markers; mapping update reported

Vice-Chair James McDonough called the Hillsborough Conservation Commission to order at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hillsborough Town Hall. The commission authorized payment of $545 to Voss Signs for 500 trail markers after a motion by member Jim Riddle and a second from member Roger Shamel; the motion passed 6-0 and Recording Secretary John P. Segedy will submit the order.
The commission also approved minutes of the April 8, 2025 meeting after a motion by Roger Shamel and a second from Jim Narloch; the motion passed 5-0-1 with member Jim Riddle recorded as abstaining.
In other business, Jim Riddle reported that Shawna Crosby completed a mapping progress report showing that all high-priority trails had been mapped and cleaned up. Riddle listed mapped areas as the Confluence, Farrar Marsh, Low State and House Rock, Riverwalk and Kemp Park, Meeting Hill Woods, Shedd Brook, Sand Brook, and Underpass Hike; he said he and Richard had not yet connected with Therese Smith from CAI.
Vice-Chair McDonough reported that Richard Head had walked the Philbrick Easement and observed no violations. Under correspondence, the commission reviewed a Planning Board referral for a site-plan amendment from All Purpose Storage Hillsborough LLC at 457 West Main St.; after review the commission concluded there were no conservation issues and had no comment. The record also notes an Intent to Excavate filed by Richard Mello for 425 Second NH Turnpike, a registration notice from NH Lakes, and the town monthly expense report.
Discussion of new signs focused on placing signage at the Confluence Trail and Meeting House Woods parcels; Roger Shamel said he would obtain cost estimates for signs and McDonough said he would get prices for posts. Recording Secretary Segedy reported that the Town Marsh Walking Guide had been restored to the commission web page but that the Natural Resources Inventory file was too large to upload.
Member Jim Riddle moved to adjourn at 7:58 p.m.; Roger Shamel seconded and the motion passed 6-0. The minutes were prepared by John P. Segedy and marked Approved May 13, 2025.
